Safety, Peace & Protection (Psalm 91 - Part 4 of 6)

Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.  Psalms 91: 9-10

Your habitation is where you live. Because you have chosen to Live in Christ and He lives in you, safety and protection are yours. Renew your mind to the promises you have in Christ Jesus concerning safety, peace and protection!

Made It! Falafel Waffles

Falafels. Hearing that word brings back fond memories of my trip to Israel in 2004...
One afternoon, we stopped at a little hole in the wall for lunch, in Jerusalem. We had two choices: cheese bagels or falafels. Not being very adventures in my food choices I was getting tired of pizza, pizza bagels, pizza pitas, cheese bagels, cheese pitas, you get the idea.

I decided to live it up and order the falafel. The deli guy smiled, pulled out a 5 gallon bucket of thick, chunky, tan stuff and dropped spoonfuls of it into a vat of hot oil, then began filling a warm pita with steak fries, cucumbers, tomatoes, tahini sauce and topped it with the fried falafel. As he handed the sandwich to me I was thinking oh my, I hope this is good... it smells good... I have no idea what it is... but there's a lot of it in that pita... we have a lot of walking to do today... and I don't want to be hungry!

Maybe it was the fact that we had already done a lot of walking that day, or that I was eating lunch in an open air market or that I had just done something I'd never done before, regarding food choices, (I was one who stuck to the staples) but that was the best meal I had the whole two weeks I was in Israel and one of the most memorable lunches I've ever had! Anyway, falafel is one of my favorite foods... and thats saying a lot, because I'm not a big fan of food in general, I'm trying to change that though, because David loves food! And we want our kids to enjoy all kinds of foods.

Can't Touch This (Psalm 91 - Part 3 of 6)

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.  A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.  Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Psalm 91:5-8
These verses tell us that there will be trouble in this life… there will be evil, there will be bad BUT we are NOT TO BE AFRAID! We can be confident in God’s protection! As we believe in and rely on God and His protection, the trouble has NO right to come near you! Know who you are in Christ and stand strong as a child of God. God is for you!

Preserves & Protects (Psalm 91 - Part 2 of 6)

He (God) shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.  Psalm 91:4

God is looking out for us! God wants the Best for us!  His Word is our shield, our fortress and our refuge. His Word is Truth!! When we know His Truth and His promises of Protection to us we know we are protected! Also, as we obey His Truth and His way of doing things it preserves and protects us from situations we may otherwise get ourselves into!

The Secret Place (Psalm 91 - Part 1 of 6)

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.  Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.  Psalm 91:1-3

It is possible to live free of fear.  Even if there are gangs in your school and metal detectors in the halls.  As a Christian protection is God’s promise to you!  If you’re afraid of the dangers around you, spend time reading God’s Word, learn about His promises for you.  When you dwell in the secret place of the Most High – no matter how dangerous things in this world become – He will rescue you.

Family! Babies Don't Keep

Mother, oh mother, come shake out your cloth!
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking!

Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue
Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby, loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo.
The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.

Oh, cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
But children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust, go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby. Babies don't keep.

Do Not Fear...

The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? Psalm 118:6
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Hebrews 13:6

We do not have to fear anyone or anything! The God of the Universe, the creator of all things is on our side! The Lord is our helper in all situations! We can boldly declare that God is on our side! Do not Fear... for God is with YOU!

One last thought… do not play with fear of any kind for even a moment. Fear is not of God. God is Love and perfect love casts out or destroys fear! Fear has no part in the life of a child of God!

Family! Excuse This House

Some houses try to hide the fact

That children shelter there,
Ours boasts it quite openly,
The signs are everywhere.

For smears are on the windows,
Little smudges are on the doors
I should apologize, I guess
For toys strewn on the floor.

But I sat down with my child
And we played and laughed and read
And if the doorbell doesn’t shine,
His eyes will shine instead.

For when at times I’m forced to choose
The one job or the other,
I’d like to cook and clean and scrub,
But first I’ll be a mother.

Power, Love & A Sound Mind

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  2 Timothy 1:7

Fear of any kind is your enemy.  Fear will keep you from walking in all that God has for you.  Fear is the opposite of Faith. Fear steals what God has for you. Faith receives what God has for you. God has given us a spirit, and attitude of Power, Love and a Sound Faith filled mind!

Power: You have God’s Dunamis – miraculous power, ability, abundance, might, power, strength, and mighty (wonderful) work – at work in you!

Love: You have God’s Agape - love, affection or benevolence and charity – at work in you!
Sound Mind: You have God’s Sophronismos - discipline, self-control, and sound mind – at work in you!

Family! Caden 12 Months

What's Caden doing at 12 Months?

Celebrated his 1st Birthday!

Visited the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo - loved the giraffes and the chickens

Learning how to brush his teeth - He likes Mommy's tooth brush so we bought one for him

Learning to walk holding on to our hands, he just leans in the direction he wants to go and his little feet follow. It's so cute!

Loves to climb! He climbed in to and out of his walker and the bathtub

Said: Dada ni-ni when Daddy was taking a nap on the couch, b-nana when he was eating bananas, and we woke up to him saying uh-oh, not what you want to hear when you first wake up! Upon investigating we discovered his teddy bear had "jumped" out of his crib!

Can moo like a cow, it sounds a bit like a growl with a "m" sound in the front - he loves to growl all animals have a growl sound!

Sleeping 4-6 hours in between feedings at night, yay for sleep!

Eats: Bean & Cheese Enchiladas, Waffles, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Mashed Potatoes, Fruit Smoothies (Strawberries, mango, papaya, pineapple, blueberries & bananas), Onions, Summer Squash, Cheese, Cheez-It Crakers and Nilla Wafers (thanks nursery for giving our boy sugar!)
