El Shaddai

And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.  And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.  Genesis 17:1-2
Jesus’ name is: El Shaddai – Almighty God, the all-sufficient one (Genesis 17:1-9).  El Shaddai is the faithful, almighty God, who always keeps his promises.  God showed up for Abraham and God will show up for you!  He is big enough, mighty enough, for your biggest most impossible dreams.

Today's Thought: In what ways has God shown His faithfulness to you?

Jehovah Nissi

And (Jesus) having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Colossians 2:15
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4
Jesus’ name is: Jehovah Nissi – the Lord my banner, the Lord my victory (Exodus 17:8-16).  2000 years ago Jesus – the One who is in you – ruined satan’s kingdom.  Through His death on the cross, He striped satan of everything.  Then Jesus turned around, rose from the dead and obtained eternal victory.  Because He lives in you, you have the victory!  Victory means to overcome. Right now, today, You can overcome in Life because of what Jesus has provided.

What have you overcome because of the life you have in Christ?

Jehovah Tsidkenu

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.  2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus’ name is: Jehovah Tsidkenu – the Lord my righteousness (Jeremiah 23:5-8).  Through believing on Jesus we are made righteous before God. The Father accepts Jesus’ righteousness as if it were yours. Righteousness means we are in right standing with God. God is not mad at us and we are no longer at odds with God. He sees you as blameless, guiltless, holy, innocent, justified and sinless.  He sees you just like He sees Jesus! You are righteous!

How does it make you feel to know God's not mad at you?

Jehovah Jireh

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:19

Jesus’ name is: Jehovah Jireh – The Lord will provide (Genesis 22:13-14).  No matter what the need or the problem is, God is the answer.  Nothing is impossible with God!  What does this verse mean?  It literally says God will furnish, satisfy, accomplish and complete, everything you need according to His Son, Jesus.

Tell us about a time God provided for you completely.

Jehovah Shalom

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  John 14:27
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts.  Colossians 3:15

Jesus’ name is: Jehovah Shalom – The Lord my peace (Judges 6:23-24).  The God kind of peace settles every question, it will guide you in every area of your life, and it will keep you from making mistakes.  Jesus came so you could walk in the peace of God and not be afraid or concerned about life’s little worries.

How has God's peace settled the questions in your heart?

Jehovah Rapha

I am the Lord who heals you. Exodus 15:26
But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  Isaiah 53:5
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself (Jesus) took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.  Matthew 8:17

Jesus’ name is: Jehovah Rapha – The Lord my healer (Exodus 15:26). God wants you well!  He wants you healthy and strong in every area! God wants you to be spiritually, emotionally and physically well.  Jesus has paid the price for your healing. Receive your promise of healing today!

What have you been healed of?

Jesus, Name Above All Names - Part 2

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  Philippians 2:9-11

This verse tells us that God Himself has named Jesus and has exalted His Name. There is power in the Name of Jesus!  All that God is and does is represented in the Name of Jesus.  The Name of Jesus is more powerful than any other name.  Every knee shall bow. This does not leave out anyone or anything. Jesus IS Lord of Heaven and Earth.

What does the name of Jesus mean to you?

Jesus, Name Above All Names - Part 1

For unto us a child (Jesus) is born… his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
What’s in a name?  It’s not just some cute-sounding word your parents picked out so they could call you to dinner without having to say, “Hey, you!”  In biblical cultures, names were significant.  A person’s name can direct the course of his life. That’s why God changed Abram’s name to Abraham when He promised him a child. Abraham means “father of many nations.”

God himself named Jesus. Have you ever thought of that? Mary was told by the angel what Jesus’ name would be. (Luke 1:31-33).  The angel went on to tell them what Jesus would do. Jesus had an important purpose. He is Great, the Son of the Highest, and there is NO end to his Kingdom. God knew the awesome work that His Son was about to accomplish for all of mankind!

What does your name mean? In what ways do you live up to the meaning of your name?

To Encourage

Several years ago, I was asked to help write a daily devotional to encourage the teens in our youth group. They are short and sweet and to the point. Recently I found some of my my notes and the actual emails we sent. I'm quite excited to share these with you, to encourage you and "spur you on" in your adventure with God!

At the end of each devotional is a thought for the day, feel free to leave a comment or just meditate on what God is speaking to you through His Word.

Have Fun & Enjoy The Adventure!
